I’m Maureen. This is life as I see it “Through my lens.”
This blog started because I got tired of the version of happiness I was handed. The one where you keep your head down, don’t make anyone uncomfortable, smile through what you don’t say. I grew up around a lot of silence. Some of it was love. Some of it was shame wearing love’s clothes. I’m still learning the difference.
So, I write about the things we don’t usually say out loud: shame, the slow work of healing, love that doesn’t look like the movies, and what happiness might mean if nobody else got to define it first. Some of it is true. Some of it is fiction I needed to write to get closer to the truth.
I’m not here to tell you how to live. I’m here because writing is how I figure out how I want to live, one story a week, in public, without pretending I’ve already arrived.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
